Putting Something Back

STC-PR's Proud Support of The Friends of Redhill Primary School: Giving Back to the Community

At STC-PR, we believe in the power of giving back to our community, and we are incredibly proud of the pro bono work we carried out over five years to support the Friends of Redhill. This inspiring group of volunteers has been on an incredible journey, transforming the school experience for both students and the wider community, and we’ve been honoured to play a part in helping raise much-needed funds for additional school resources.

Raising Funds for the School

The Friends of Redhill are always thinking outside the box, and it’s been amazing to see their creative ideas take flight. Through STC-PR’s support, we’ve helped them raise awareness of their fundraising efforts and create unforgettable events that have truly made an impact. Some of their standout moments include:

  • The Magical Harry Potter Celebration: The Friends turned Redhill Primary into Hogwarts to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the first Harry Potter book. As part of this celebration, a helicopter full of Hogwarts characters landed on the school’s playing field in front of over 500 stunned children! The event received wide coverage, appearing on BBC TV, live radio broadcasts, and front-page stories across Shropshire—a true magical moment for everyone involved.
  • Winterfest & Firework Finale: The team orchestrated the first-ever Winterfest Celebration, bringing together over 1000 people for an evening of fun, festivities, and the grand Firework Finale. This event quickly became a highlight of the school’s Christmas calendar, generating both community spirit and vital funds for the school.
  • Redfest Festival: In 2019, the Friends introduced Redfest, a Glastonbury-style festival for key stage 2 pupils. With music, arts, and games, it was a fun-filled day that also helped fund new resources for the school.
  • “Secrets, Spies and Superheroes” Event: A community fundraising event celebrating the 100th anniversary of GCHQ, Code Breakers, and the Bletchley Circle. This was a fun and educational way to get the entire community involved in supporting the school, with lots of engaging activities and stories to tell.

The Impact of the Friends’ Fundraising Efforts

Through these creative and memorable events, the Friends of Redhill have helped to fund a variety of essential resources for the school. Their tireless work has led to the purchase of:

  • iPads and CD players
  • Library books and outdoor furniture
  • Interactive whiteboards
  • A castle climbing frame and carved wooden storyteller chair
  • A sensory garden
  • School mini bus
  • Purpose built pastoral building and much more

One of their most recent successes was securing the funds to lease a minibus for school sporting competitions and after-school clubs, enabling students to participate in a wider range of activities and ensuring equal access to opportunities.

A Safe Space for Pastoral Care

One of the most lasting and meaningful achievements has been the creation of a separate pastoral care building. This new space provides children with a safe, nurturing environment to discuss any challenges they may be facing. It’s a space dedicated to ensuring that all students feel supported and heard, and it will continue to serve as a vital resource for years to come.

STC-PR’s Role: Amplifying Their Efforts

At STC-PR, our role has been to provide the PR support that helps amplify the Friends of Redhill’s incredible efforts. Through press releases, media outreach, and social media campaigns, we’ve worked to ensure that the community, local press, and regional networks knew about these extraordinary events and how they were making a difference in the lives of the children.

We’ve also helped generate buzz and excitement for fundraising events, making sure they reached as many people as possible and driving both attendance and donations. The creativity, enthusiasm, and passion of the Friends of Redhill has made them a true force for good within the local community, and we’ve been honoured to be a part of that journey.

Looking Forward: More Magic and More Impact

As the Friends of Redhill continue to make a difference, we remain proud of our support over the years and the help we gave them to enhance the school experience for every child. With imagination, dedication, and a little bit of “crazy” creativity, the Friends continue to change lives, create lasting memories, and help ensure the children of Redhill have all the resources they need to thrive.
